How do I calculate a journey’s fuel cost?

Use distance × consumption ÷ 100 × price per litre. The calculator updates this automatically.

How do I measure real l/100 km accurately?

Fill to the same level, reset the trip counter, drive normally and refill. Divide litres added by kilometres travelled and multiply by 100.

Which fuel price should I use?

Use the price you expect to pay, including any loyalty discount. The GOV.UK link shows weekly UK averages, not every individual forecourt.

What distance should I enter?

Enter the whole planned journey. If the outward and return legs are 150 km each, enter 300 km.

Can I calculate an electric car journey?

Yes. Select Electric, enter kWh/100 km and your home or public charging price in £/kWh. The two-car comparison is hidden in EV mode.

Are the speed-based costs exact?

No. They use broad indicative factors with 100 km/h as the reference. Real consumption depends on the vehicle, weather, road and traffic.
